In an emergency, time is the most critical factor for success. First Responders need more time to save people’s lives more effectively. Current equipment restricts vision and can reduce these responders’ awareness of the environment. The Vulcan System is a modular first responder helmet that incorporates existing technologies to improve the efficiency when responding to emergency situations. In 2012, there were 1,375,000 fires reported in the United States. These fires caused 2,855 civilian deaths, 16,500 civilian injuries, and 12.4 billion US Dollars in property damage.
